Here’s a little about me:
I’ve been playing electric guitar for the last 3 years seriously and I can understand how frustrating it must be when you’re first learning how to play guitar. With the right type of training and persistence though, I was able to improve so fast that it really freaked my friends out.
Don’t give up is my advise. I had many frustrating moments where I didn’t understand some things, and there were months where my brain just didn’t want to coordinate with my fingers but I kept on going. Why? Because it was so much fun! ( Though it really sounded like crap for the first few months I started playing guitar ).
A quick story.. I have a friend from Spain and he’s an awesome guitarist. When he first started, he trained something like 6 hours every single day for 9 months religiously. And by the end of the 1 year mark, he was shreddin’ so fast it was mind-blowing! The bottom line..try to enjoy your guitar playing because that’s the point of it all. The more you enjoy it, the stronger your will-power and the longer you will persevere.. Until one day “ Click! “ – things just fall into place for you.
The length of time it’ll take for you to reach a decent level where you can start jamming with other musicians will solely depend on you, as well as the type of training you do. Practice the wrong way and you will not see any super fast improvement. From fellow guitarist to guitarist, I hope I was able to pass down some of my tips and advise to you.
